Daily Reporter: Ogden officials hand dinosaur park management duties to foundation

OGDEN, Utah — The founder of an Ogden dinosaur park and museum says the city-run facility will soon be under new management.

The Standard-Examiner of Ogden reports the Ogden Dinosaur Park & Museum Foundation will take over daily management duties at the George S. Eccles Dinosaur Park beginning July 1.

The Ogden attraction features 130 dinosaur sculptures that are brought to life through robotics.

The city paid has paid for park insurance and maintenance. The museum was run by foundation members and paid for through donations and admissions.

Park founder Robert Marquardt says the city's ability to run the park was limited.

Marquardt says the foundation hopes to attract more visitors by increasing the number of volunteers and expanding or reopening some park exhibits. The foundation also hopes to increase private donations.
